The Artist: Yan Pei-Ming

Born in Shanghai in 1960, Yan Pei-Ming relocated to France at the age of 19. He honed his artistic skills at the École des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, graduating in 1986. Yan Pei-Ming is celebrated for his monumental portraits, characterized by dynamic brushwork and a distinctive monochromatic palette. His technique involves the use of large, mop-sized brushes, allowing for rapid, expressive strokes that convey profound emotion and depth.
