Nello Baricci, born in Montalcino in 1921, harbored a profound connection to his homeland. With limited savings, he acquired a parcel on the eastern slope of Montosoli hill in 1955, an area renowned since the Middle Ages for its exceptional Sangiovese cultivation. Recognizing the potential of this unique microclimate and soil composition, Nello dedicated himself to producing high-quality wines that truly reflected the essence of Montosoli. In 1967, he became one of the 25 founding members of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino, an association committed to protecting and promoting the burgeoning reputation of Brunello wines. The estate’s inaugural Rosso di Montalcino was released in 1968, followed by the first Brunello di Montalcino in 1971. Today, Baricci holds the distinction of being the sole producer with all its vineyards exclusively on the Montosoli hill.
