Château Rieussec 2008, Sauternes 375 ml

CHF 50.00

Château Rieussec 2008, Sauternes 375 ml – Château Rieussec, owned by the prestigious Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), is one of the greatest names in Sauternes. The 2008 vintage is a beautiful expression of this 1er Grand Cru Classé. It was a year that demanded patience, resulting in a late harvest with excellent Botrytis (noble rot). The result is a wine that perfectly walks the tightrope between opulent sweetness and vibrant, lifting acidity.

What’s it Like?

It pours a radiant, deep gold. The nose is an intoxicating perfume of apricot jam, candied orange peel, acacia honey, and subtle hints of saffron and vanilla. On the palate, it is unctuous and rich, coating the mouth with sweet tropical fruits and caramel, but it is immediately lifted by a brilliant, zesty acidity. It finishes remarkably fresh, never feeling cloying or heavy.

Perfect For

The classic pairing is a rich foie gras or a pungent Roquefort cheese, where the sweet and salty contrast creates magic. It is also a stunning companion to a classic tarte Tatin or roasted duck with peaches.

The Critics Agree…

Critics consistently praise the 2008 Rieussec for its freshness and elegance. Reviews highlight its “vibrant acidity” and “beautiful purity of fruit,” noting that while it has the classic Sauternes richness, it possesses a “laser-like focus” that promises excellent aging potential for decades.
