Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014
Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014 – The most iconic prestige cuvée in Champagne — in one of the decade’s finest vintages.
What is it? Cristal is the flagship Champagne of Louis Roederer, one of the last independent Grand Maisons in Champagne. Created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II — legend has it he demanded a flat crystal-clear base so his guards could spot hidden explosives — it stands today as the embodiment of elegance, depth, and unparalleled complexity.
Where from? Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, Champagne, France. Single-vineyard-selected Grand Cru sites, largely from Roederer’s own estate vineyards.
Grapes? 57% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay. Fermented in stainless steel with partial barrel fermentation. Minimum 5 years on lees in bottle. Dosage: Brut (7–9 g/L).
Tastes like? Brioche, white peach, candied citrus, fresh ginger, camomile, chalk and a subtle smoky note. On the palate: creamy texture carried by extraordinary tension, with a long, mineral-saline finish.
Score? Antonio Galloni (Vinous): 98/100 · James Suckling: 98/100 · Wine Spectator: 97/100 · Wine Advocate: 96/100
